Here is ‘Aobasu’ lotus at Saienji Temple in Omijima. They bloom July to early August with big white petals. Long time ago, ‘Aobasu’ lotus was brought and planted at Saienji Temple by the buddhist monk who had studied in China. An flower will die after three to four days. The lotuses all open together in the morning and they tuck their petals away at dusk. (at their most beautiful around 7:00am to 9:00am)

Kotokuzenji Temple is known as Ajisaidera (hydrangea temple) in Nagato. In the rainy season, the serene temple is full of the hydrangea of different colors as blue, purple, pink and white. You’ll enjoy the panoramic view of hydrangea garden with the Japan Sea in the background. It is just a 25-minute drive from Motonosumi Inari Shrine and Higashi Ushirobata Tanada, so it would be nice to make a little side trip to see its beautiful hydrangea.
Experience a beautiful early summer evening at this event, the annual firefly-watching bus tour. There are some spots around Yumoto-Onsen to view fireflies glow. We will take you to the most spectacular place, called “Firefly Road”. Join the tour and watch a lot of fireflies flickering and dancing, a must-see for nature lovers.

This Shrine is a 30-minute drive from Bettei Otozure. It was recently selected as one of “Japan’s 31 most beautiful places” by CNN. The biggest highlight is the captivating row of vermillion torii. There are 123 torii in a stretch of over 100 meters, heading toward the ocean.
