The ryokan's concept is
"modern therapeutic onsen."
By infusing quintessential elements of Japanese culture—soaking in hot springs, walking barefoot, sitting close to the floor—with a sense of openness and refined luxury, we offer a contemporary interpretation of therapeutic bathing.
The quiet sounds of time passing.
Within our spacious retreat, there are only 18 guest rooms.
A rarity that cannot be found just anywhere—that is our form of luxury.
As your private sanctuary,
we hope you enjoy a stay filled with unhurried, abundant time.
Otozure’s spatial design
A sophisticated space where stylish contemporary design blends seamlessly with the dignified ambiance of traditional Japanese architecture.
The subdued tones of woods such as walnut and black cherry, the generous use of Western stone materials, and the soft indirect lighting placed throughout the building all accentuate the elegance of the design.
Within the expansive grounds, the property includes just 18 guest rooms. Guests can walk barefoot indoors, as the floors are laid with tatami—flooring cherished in Japan’s climate and culture. The comfort that comes from padding around in bare feet allows you to fully savor the luxury of a spacious, relaxing environment.
The gentle murmur of the Otozure River.
As you drive north along Route 316 through lush rural scenery, the main building, OTANISANSO, comes into view. Adjacent to it, nestled beside the clear Otozure River, stands Bettei Otozure. Nagato Yumoto Onsen—located about 8 km from the birthplace of the children’s poet Misuzu Kaneko and the Senzaki fishing port, known for Senzaki squid and kamaboko fish paste—boasts the longest history of any hot spring in Yamaguchi Prefecture, with a legacy of 600 years. Strolling through the nostalgic hot-spring town and along the charming riverside promenade, you are greeted by birdsong, the sound of flowing water, the scent of the trees, and a star-filled sky that together create an indescribably refreshing sense of serenity.
